Trusted surrogacy support KIMS Fertility Centre

Surrogacy Support Services

Surrogacy is an arrangement where a woman (the surrogate) carries a pregnancy for another individual or couple, often when medical or biological challenges prevent the intended mother from carrying a child. At KIMS Fertility, we facilitate gestational surrogacy, where the embryo is created using the intended parents' or donor gametes and transferred to the surrogate’s uterus. The child is genetically related to one or both intended parents.

Benefits

Surrogacy is often recommended in cases such as:

  • Absence of a uterus or a structurally abnormal uterus
  • Repeated IVF failures or miscarriage
  • Certain medical conditions where pregnancy may be unsafe
  • Single parents or same-sex couples (as permitted by law)

When traditional fertility treatments aren't possible or successful, surrogacy offers a viable alternative for having a biological child.

How to Prepare for OITI

At KIMS Fertility, the surrogacy process is carefully managed under the latest legal and ethical guidelines.

  • Medical Evaluation: We assess the intended parents and surrogate for readiness and compatibility.
  • Legal Guidance: Our in-house legal advisors help draft the necessary agreements to ensure all parties are protected and informed.
  • IVF & Embryo Transfer: The embryo is created through IVF and transferred to the surrogate.
  • Pregnancy Monitoring: We handle the full pregnancy care and delivery, keeping intended parents informed throughout.

Surrogates are selected carefully, screened medically and psychologically, and supported throughout their pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is surrogacy legal in India?
×
Yes. Gestational surrogacy is legal under specific conditions as per the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021. It is allowed for married Indian couples with medical indications, with strict legal guidelines and approvals.
Who can opt for surrogacy?
+
Surrogacy may be recommended for women with absent or non-functional uterus, medical complications that prevent pregnancy, or multiple IVF failures. Eligibility is determined after a medical assessment and legal screening.
How are surrogates chosen?
+
Surrogates undergo detailed medical, psychological, and legal screening. They must meet age, health, and family criteria, and consent to carry the child with full understanding of the legal agreement.
Will the baby be genetically related to me?
+
Yes, if your egg and/or sperm is used. In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate has no genetic link to the baby. Donor eggs or sperm may also be used if needed.
What kind of support will we receive during the process?
+
You’ll be guided at every stage. Medical treatment, legal documentation, pregnancy care, and delivery - our team ensures complete coordination and emotional support for both intended parents and surrogates.
Can I be involved during the surrogate’s pregnancy?
+
Yes. Intended parents are regularly updated on the medical progress and can be involved during key milestones like scans and medical reviews, as per mutual agreement and comfort. We promote respectful communication and emotional connection throughout the journey.
How long does the surrogacy process take?
+
The full process, from evaluation and legal documentation to embryo transfer and delivery, can take 12 to 18 months. This includes time for medical preparation, legal approvals, and of course, the duration of pregnancy. Our team will provide a timeline tailored to your case.
What happens after the baby is born?
+
After birth, legal documentation is completed for parental rights and custody transfer. Our team helps facilitate hospital discharge, newborn care coordination, and post-delivery support. Intended parents are given full rights, and the baby is handed over soon after birth, as per legal protocol.
