Benefits

Donor programs are recommended when one or both partners are unable to produce viable eggs or sperm, or when there's a high risk of passing on genetic conditions.

  • Sperm donation helps single women, same-sex couples, or men with azoospermia.
  • Egg donation supports women with poor ovarian reserve, premature menopause, or failed IVF cycles.
  • Embryo donation is offered when both partners face fertility challenges or in cases involving certain medical conditions.

We ensure anonymity, legal clarity, and strict medical screening for all donors to safeguard the health of the baby and the intended parents.

Why is it done?

Donor-assisted conception is a proven solution when natural methods or advanced fertility treatments are not successful. It is also recommended for women with poor-quality eggs or men with severe male factor infertility. Our program provides carefully screened donor options so couples can still experience pregnancy and childbirth, with the added reassurance of medical safety.

The Process

  • Sperm Donation: Donor sperm is used in IUI or IVF after matching blood group and physical traits.
  • Egg Donation: Eggs are retrieved from a healthy donor and fertilised with the partner's or donor sperm, and the embryo is transferred to the intended mother.
  • Embryo Donation: A healthy embryo from a donor couple is transferred directly to the uterus.

Each step is conducted with complete transparency and handled with sensitivity by our specialists and counsellors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is using a donor the right choice for me?
×
If you or your partner are unable to conceive with your own eggs or sperm due to medical or genetic reasons, donor options provide a safe and effective path to pregnancy. Our doctors will guide you after evaluating your condition.
Are donors screened for health and genetic conditions?
+
Yes. All donors undergo comprehensive medical, psychological, and genetic screening. This ensures the health and safety of the recipient and the future child.
Will the donor remain anonymous?
+
Yes. In India, donor identity is kept anonymous and confidential as per ICMR guidelines. The recipient couple will receive basic traits and compatibility information only.
Can I choose the donor?
+
You can express preferences regarding blood group, physical characteristics, and other traits. Our team then matches you with the most suitable donor based on your needs and legal regulations.
What are the chances of success with donor eggs, sperm, or embryos?
+
Donor cycles generally have higher success rates due to the good quality of gametes or embryos. Our team will discuss your individual success chances based on your age, medical condition, and type of procedure.
Will my child inherit any traits from the donor?
+
Yes, if donor eggs or sperm are used, the child may inherit genetic traits from the donor. However, all donors are carefully screened for good health, family history, and genetic conditions. We also ensure that physical characteristics and compatibility are well-matched to your preferences.
Can donor programs be used with IVF or IUI?
+
Absolutely. Donor sperm can be used with either IUI or IVF, depending on your fertility plan. Donor eggs and embryos are used in IVF procedures. Your doctor will help choose the most suitable method based on your fertility goals and medical background.
How do I emotionally prepare for using a donor?
+
Choosing a donor is a significant decision, and emotional readiness is important. At KIMS Fertility IVF Centre, we offer counselling services to support you through the process. Our experienced team is here to help you navigate your feelings, answer your concerns, and ensure you feel confident and supported throughout your journey.
